According to
this story, Dan Kopelman, a technology manager in the secretary of state's office (Mike Coffman), was offering for sale private voter information through his personal website (which has since been taken down). Whether anyone actually bought the information isn't clear, though the secretary of state's office has begun a formal investigation into Kopelman's activities. What's kinda scary is that the big deal isn't the actual information he was selling it, but that he was selling it for personal profit. You see, this same information is actually for sale by the state office he was working in. So, it's not really a privacy breach, but rather more like someone using government property for personal gain. The article does have quite a liberal slant to it, due no doubt to Kopelman's strong republican affiliation. However, this really isn't about political parties, about about how our personal information is stored and used by the government...and how it could possibly be abused, as it may have been in this case.
